Psalms 63:1 (A Psalm of David, when he was in the wilderness of Judah.) O God, thou  art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is;

In this verse, David echoes the words that Jesus spoke hundreds of years later in Matthew 5:6 in what today we call “THE SERMON ON THE MOUNT” and also The BEATITITUDES.

Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.

David reigned as King over Israel from about 1011 BC-971 BC  i.e about a thousand years before Christ.
Here we see David expressing a deep heart felt longing – a cry from the depth of his soul, a deep communion with God, a prayer! David longed for God and spoke it out. He did not restrain it within! HE PRAYED!

It has to be a prayer to be heard. Prayer converts desire into REALITY!
Such intense  longing from within, when expressed to God receives attention and reward.
Jesus confirms this by giving the assurance of fulfillment at the end of Matthew 5:6…”For they shall be filled”!

Now what do we mean by BEATTITUDES? This is simply a combination of two words- be and attitudes.

So Be- attitudes means attitude to be in or disposition of the mind.
Attitude is the state of mind and soul that you are in which now controls and produces your behavior or actions.
The attitude is controlled and influenced by what the soul is fed with.
What are you feeding your soul with- does it inspire righteousness? INPUT=OUTPUT!
In His sermon on the mount, Jesus outlines the several attitudes or state of mind to be in and included in that is the attitude of “hunger and thirst for righteousness” which means hunger and thirst for God.
The knowledge of God is given by revelation through His Spirit.
It does not matter the dispensation or generation you belong to, when you possess the Spirit of God, your response will be the same. The Spirit of God reproduces the nature and character of God in Humans

David had the Spirit of God and even before Christ’s  coming, expressed this deep longing for God which Jesus centuries later affirms as the right attitude of mind.
When you have the Spirit of God. It is like a chip embedded in your system or more appropriately an app installed that is fully loaded with everything about God so it operates and manifests through you.
That Spirit chip/app within you reveals God to you, displays and explains who God is and slowly but surely begins to configure your system to be like and to operate like God.
Do you have the Spirit?
The Spirit reveals God to us through the word of God.
The word of God is like live hot coals inside the mind- you have to have the word stored up in your mind first.
Then the Spirit comes and fans that word to life till it becomes a fire that cannot be quenched burning within you.

David is crying out to God in all honesty and sincerity of heart.
Be honest with God.
Evaluate and expose yourself to God.

Humility is not a weakness to be ashamed of but rather a strength.
Pride is the opposite of humility and is a weakness borne out of fear and insecurities. Your inner struggles are no one’s business except you choose to share them. No one’s business but it is serious business between you and God.
Life is not a competition with other human beings but rather a unique course or path that God has laid out for you as an individual. And He judges you by His own rules
Many things that are important here on earth are irrelevant in Heaven.

Your value or validation is not from man.

Often we are more concerned with what people think of us than what God thinks of us. God’s evaluation and validation should be our PRIORITY!

Be honest with God. Don’t use bravado or play games.

Ask God to make you hungry and thirsty for Him.
Once I had no hunger or thirst for righteousness, then I cried to God and He filled me , now I’m insatiable!
What do you hunger for?
Achievement, money, power, success etc.

God fills, and with a package that comes with everything that is essential!

Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.
